The Sketches project, by Ryan McGillicuddy, is a periodically updated audio visual journal featuring stripped down field recordings of previously unreleased material. Immodest and lacking embellishment, the works presented here are the undressed figures of a forthcoming full-length studio album. As a result of life and incompetency, that effort will be distantly realized. In the meantime, please enjoy these songs in their pure pellucid form.

I don’t got a way to make this easy
And you don’t have a way of taking things light
I can’t afford to pay you with my soul dear
And you cannot afford to waste your life

This legal tenderness ain’t worth much
We should break it for change and save some time
We were only heads and tails to start with
You laid upon the wrong side of the dime

Hearts crossed, it’s a toss, hope to die with one you love
Words are only sharper sticks and stones
The heart you put in was left out, shaken, torn, and tossed about
Probably best you turn yourself around

I’d bring around the roses but my pockets are filled with holes
And my mouth with all the ashes from the stories we were told

A thousand names to fill the rhyme scheme
Each interchanging lips and dreams
